About The Forum
The Political Ecology Forum @NMBU is a physical and virtual meeting place for academics and students interested in the political dimension of environment and development debates.
Political ecology is a broad approach to understanding and studying environmental issues, with a focus on power and the environment as a commonality. This means that the Forum will include research that in one way or another discusses dimensions of power linked to environemental issues.
The Forum is a cluster of the International Political Ecology Network (POLLEN). Some of the activities of the Forum are undertaken in cooperation with POLLEN-Norway, which includes members of other Norwegian universities.
Purposes of The Forum
The Forum will organize academic meetings, seminars, PhD courses and policy events at NMBU, at other locations in Norway and virtually.
Through these activities, the Forum aims to:
• Promote social science and interdisciplinary environment research at NMBU;
• Improve NMBU’s visibility nationally and internationally as a place for critical environmental research; and,
• Facilitate dialogue on environmental questions across disciplines and perspectives.
The Forum has a secretariat consisting of Tor A. Benjaminsen, Melanie Sommerville and Noé Mendoza.
